Day 19 - Another day by lake Baikal

This morning, I hired a mountain bike again, and went solo to the chapel, wading rivers and crossing marshes again. I was rewarded by herd of horses at the end of it too. The chapel was a small wooden building - very low key - with a key hanging outside (for what I don't know, because the chapel was open!). Unfortunately, the I had a puncture after that - and had to pay for it too! I was however awarded by a wonderful panorama!

Here's some more flora for those who are interested. Later in the afternoon, we played football against the local team and lost 10-3. Not surprising!

Later that evening, some local and international talents came out. Janier sang us some traditional songs of the Buryat people who are indigenous to the local area, and have links with Mongolian culture. Alex played some songs from his own band, and Olga, one of the home-stay "house wives" sung some folk songs too.

Nadia, our own "house-wife" made us some omulfish soup. This is a fish that is only found in Lake Baikal. Infact, the majority creatures in the lake are unique to it!
