Week 11 - More temples (21 August)

More temples today. The first was Preah Khan - it was nice because it was in a suitable state of disrepair to feel adventurous. I was chronically aware of the "No Entry" and "No Climbing" signs stoppping me from going exploring!

These sort of temples are an excellent arena for misbehaviour.... see right!

On the other hand, our tuk-tuk driver was spending the time waiting for us sleeping. He tied a hammock up in his tuk-tuk and usually got some Z's while we were away. Cathy suggested tickling his feet, and I suggested that this may result in a kick in the face!

The wildlife (thinking particularly of insects) continued to be enthralling, if not a little but disturbing. There was this fat bright green thing on the ground that looked like it was a piece of plant life that had had fallen off a tree - but if you prodded it it wriggled and came to life! The crowning glory was an evil looking spider that had ensnared a bug! I did get to try read bean with coconut ice-cream, but was careful to dispose of the wrapper to reduce my attraction to insects!

After visiting a couple of other temples, including the Preah Neak Pean (it had some nice pools of water and water lillies around it), we went back for a swim in our hotel's sister pool, and then ate at our local! This time I got a glimpse of the mother who had been cooking at the shack for the last 12 years.
