I took the opportunity of my last day in Minsk to go to the "The Belarussian State Museum of the Great Patriotic War". The war being referred to is World War II, and a clue to the style of the museum can be found in the title of the museum!

There were some very graphic depictions and photographs of the war, and there was there was a clear message of pride in protecting the motherland - taking the Soviet perspective on World War II. There was also a lot of patriotic war related art which seemed to get the message across very well - the Red Army goes forth!
I am catching the train to St Petersburg this evening to join the Trans-Siberian trip. By tomorrow evening I will have company again. I bought some last minute supplies at the Supermarket - a difficult task when you don't know the rules and can't interpret any of the writing ANYWHERE! As a result, I think I was a slow customer.
I expect there could be some radio silence from me for a bit, but keep watching!
