Later I stumbled upon Mark (from Nottingham) and Anna (from a town near Polotsk in Northern Belarus) as we were constantly being misdirected to Internet Cafe's. Once we achieved this, we met up later for dinner. They hope to be married soon.
With my passport packed full of Visas, and my last work day at work on 2nd of June out of the way... I have left for my travels abroad - over three months overlanding across Russia and Asia! My aim is to go as low carbon as possible - overlanding as much as possible - just one flight home, and one flight across where borders are closed. Look forward to meeting up with Ushma, Tom S, Tom B, Stu, my folks & bro, Cathy and Dave all along the way! LOOK OUT FOR MY (SHORT) DAILY UPDATES!

Day 8: Promenades and people
Today, the sun came out to play (with some splashes of rain in between). A perfect chance to participate in the Minsk pass-time of promenading - strolling along the wide avenues and taking in the very open views. Despite the green spaces and the river, it is hard to get away from the looming concrete buildings! I strolled on the river into the old town where the architecture was much nicer. The river is a nice place to be - I even took the time to hire a rowing boat and enjoy the views from the river.
Today was also a very much a people day. I met a nice elderly couple on my walk. The man was incredibly well endowed with medals. Though you had a sense of what his life has been like - he didn't wish to talk about his decoration, but was curious to know my origins. I sensed he's seen a lot in his time!
