DAY 62 - First day with the family (12 August)

I was impressed by the changes in our area (village Pandoori Raj Putan Di) since I last came. Brother Bablu says that these has happened within the last year or two ahead of elections, and may be temporary. They include better roads, more constant electricity supply - we're averaging a 2 powercuts a day and they don't last quite as long as 8 hours any more! We also had an updated house - bathroom, water tank, and an electrical water pump instead of a hand pump up from the water table. There also seem to be fewer mosquitoes and less flies though still a lot of scarey big insects!

Bad news though, Coca Cola now own the "Thumbs-Up" brand of fizzy drinks, and Pepsi and Coca Cola own most of the brands of bottled water!

I got to see all of my brothers, sisters, aunts, uncles that are living in the village, as well as my mum, dad and brother (as you will recognise in England). An added bonus was that sister (Didi) Seema was staying too, and I got to see my cute nephew and niece!

The day ended with really sad and bad news about Didi Kerna and her baby, which I'll go into when I get home.
