Day 89 - Kuala Lumpur (8 September)

We would have had an excellent night's sleep, but our hotel was next to a mosque, and its speakers were at about the height of our windows. When they call to prayer was announced at 4am, there was no getting away from it!

We started the day queuing up to get our tickets for the Petronas Twin Towers. This was relatively quick and painless - possibly because it was a week day and low season. There are only a limited number of tickets per day, so you have to get there early. And guess who we saw there... yes "Kervin" and Mariah from the Cameron Highlands! It's a small world. Today was their last day in Kuala Lumpur, and they were flying out in the evening.

We got around during the day on the MRT local rail system - yes, another city that puts our embarassing transport system in London to shame! We also took a walking tour of Little India and China Town (coming back to China Town later at night). Sights included a nice blue colonial style police station and a man with a ginger dyed beard (you will have to ask me to see the photo). En-route, we found some banana skin parcels containing some tasty pork and chestnut sticky rice - Yum.

In the early evening, we returned to the Petronas Twin Towers in order to make our allotted time for the sky bridge and the observation deck. Even the big buildings in Kuala Lumpur looked minuscule from so high up. It was a shame that it was so hazy - it obscured some of the visibility. It was  a nice spot to try to take some "arty" photos though!

This was closely followed by a tasty dragon fruit based smoothie, and then my first experience of a Chinese massage in  China Town with Cathy. Mine was a firm sports-style massage which was really good. We had a relaxing night's sleep - until 4am of-course!
